Holiness
Holiness
‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.’
Design Description:
Holiness is one of God's unique attributes. Traditionally the colour blue has been used to represent God's holiness and the heavenly realm. The pale blue at the tail of the banner represents our feeble attempt at righteousness leading to holiness. As these reach upward toward God's holiness they are enough to trigger His response with a deeper, more refined holiness which can then flow through us, leading in turn to a deeper level of holiness. As this grace rains down on us, we are encouraged to move on the "way of holiness" toward a greater discipline, understanding and participation in His holiness. His divine perfection desires to draw us, into a deeper level of purity and blessing as His sanctification is worked out in us. Name of the LORD: Bible Verses: The Bible mentions the holiness of God many times and exhorts us to be holy because He is holy. Use this banner to remind yourself and others of the following spiritual truths. His holiness sets Him apart from all other gods (Exodus 15:11) and makes it difficult to stand in His presence (1 Samuel 6:20). He is constantly exalted in heaven: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty (Isaiah 6:3; Revelation 4:8). God acknowledges Himself as holy (Ezekiel 39:7), and receives acknowledgement from others ( Psalm 99:9; Revelation 15:4). Gods people are commanded to be holy because He is holy (Exodus 19:6, Leviticus 11:45; 19:2; 1 Peter 1:16 and 2 Peter 3:11). Paul commends people to give our bodies to righteousness, leading to holiness (Romans 6:19) and to perfect holiness out of reverence for God (2 Corinthians 7:1). Exodus 39:30 describes how Gods holiness was built into the turban of the priests, inscribed on pure gold and fastened with a blue chord. Zechariah 14:20 declares that when the Day of the Lord comes, that which was inscribed on gold in the turbans of the priests will be everywhere, even on the bells of the horses. Isaiah 35:8 tells of the Way of Holiness upon which His people will walk with everlasting joy. In 1 Thessalonians 3:13 Paul prays that the Lord might strengthen our hearts so that they will be holy. Hebrews 12:10 links God's discipline with sharing in His holiness and goes on in verse 14 to instruct them to make every effort to be holy, because without holiness no one can see the Lord. In 1 Peter 2:9, Peter declares that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a HOLY nation, a people belonging to God, that we might declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness and into His wonderful light".
